It was reported on September 14 that NVIDIA officially confirmed that it had reached an agreement with Softbank to acquire ARM in the form of stock + cash for $40 billion (about 273.3 billion yuan).

Softbank had previously disclosed that it would sell its ARM company, and had sent an invitation to Apple and NVIDIA, but in the end, there was no negotiation for a series of reasons other than Apple. Inthe end, NVIDIA will take ARM under its control.

According to the content of the agreement, NVIDIA will retain ARM's open license business. At the same time, Softbank's commitment to ARM acquisition in 2016 will continue until September 2021. NVIDIA will then retain ARM's brand name and expand its UK headquarters to allow ARM to continue its intellectual property registration services in the UK. And keep the openness and neutrality of ARM.

It is learned that if the two sides finally complete the transaction, they need to wait for the approval opinions of the relevant departments of China, the United States and the European Union. The final landing time is expected to take 18 months.
